Secret Key Generator

Generate random bytes with the browser cryptographic API and display them as a hexadecimal key-sized string.

How to use Secret Key Generator

  1. Choose Key size: 128, 192 or 256 bits.
  2. Click Run tool to generate the value.
  3. Copy the value only into an appropriate secure application configuration; do not publish it.

A practical example

Options: {
  "bits": "256"
}

Example output:
3e0639e9cc389202a109eda9cdd7e6f5423a954b15f0167390554fa72dc3c305

Limitations and common mistakes

Generation does not create an API credential at a provider or store the value in a secrets manager. Keep real generated secrets out of screenshots, logs, public files and URLs.

Questions about Secret Key Generator

Does this register a credential with a service?

No. This tool generates random data. Provider-issued API keys must be obtained from that provider.

Can I recover a previously generated value?

Do not rely on recovery from this tool. Store a real credential through your own appropriate secure workflow.

How long is the hexadecimal output?

There are two hexadecimal characters per random byte; a 256-bit value is 32 bytes and produces 64 hexadecimal characters.

Supported input and output

Key size: 128, 192 or 256 bits.

Hexadecimal text: 32, 48 or 64 characters for the selected bit size.
